Michael S. Miller, PhD

Founder, Front Range Evolution

Over a 40-year career spanning the U.S. Army, the National Defense University, and the Central Intelligence Agency, I’ve worked at the intersection of human behavior, national security, and complex systems.

I began my career as a Counterintelligence Agent in the U.S. Army, leading field operations and investigations across Asia and the Middle East—including frontline deployment during Operation Desert Storm. That forged a mindset: clarity under pressure, structure amid chaos.

In the years that followed, I built and led technology-enabled education and leadership development programs for the Department of Defense—helping senior leaders rethink how institutions learn, train, and adapt.

Since 2007, I’ve served as a Cognitive Scientist with the CIA, applying behavioral science to help high performing teams make better decisions in ambiguous, high-stakes environments. My work has focused on the deeply human elements of complex missions: cognition, adaptation, and team resilience under pressure.

That same mindset now powers Front Range Evolution.

What I Do Now

At Front Range Evolution, I help organizations navigate uncertainty by building systems that work with human behavior—not against it. That means:

I don’t offer off-the-shelf “solutions.” I co-design evolution—grounded in decades of real-world complexity, from tactical decision-making to enterprise transformation.

If your organization is stuck—or facing a challenge where clarity, culture, and cognitive edge matter—I’m here to help you lead forward.
